Browsing new corsetry Fall/Winter 2012 collection by Italian brand Verdissima, I’ve discovered something unexpected, that was there all the time. Colored thigh high stockings do match lingerie really well! I wonder why this match isn’t used that broadly as one would expect. Yes, colored hosiery are quite shouting and actually take away the attention from the lingerie itself, but who actually cares, as long as the look is so refreshing, sexy, playful. As much as I wouldn’t like to use this word – beautiful.

I guess it’s about time to invest a bit into colorful hosiery. That will be an investment though – usually colored stuff doesn’t match well with 80% of the wardrobe, so it means you have to have several sets of stockings in different color and probably you will wear them not that frequently compared to neutral color knee high or thigh high socks.

So, let’s get to colors and see what’s the best match to the lingerie you love.

Red color knee high socks or thigh high stockings probably would be the first to come to mind. But beware, red is not easy to match with other colors.

Yellow is even more tricky, though the romantic refreshing feeling you will radiate is undeniable.

And yes, even green stockings look great, just be sure not to use green all over your body – that might be too much. Instead choose darker brown color lingerie set or something from the earth’s color palette.

Purple is so feminine, almost fatale, but at the same time romantic. Suits with darker sets, but to soften the image bright soft color lingerie sets are fine.

Blue fits well with many colors, like jeans, so don’t be afraid experimenting. Maybe match with red and green might be tricky to control

Blue thigh high socks probably are best for summer days, when outfit usually is highly colorful.

Dark pink sheer hosiery would probably most universal – highly feminine and having in mind wild popularity of pink in our days clothing styles.

If you are not sure if you’ll be able to get harmony with solid color hosiery, try more transparency and milder colors. Yellow or dark pink transparent  is almost no fail match with any lingerie set (except black maybe).
