Kriss Soonik loungerie – designed by Estonian, touched by Scandinavia, popular in UK

There’s something wrong about the way Americans perceive how does a seductive lingerie should look like. When you think of a term “sexy lingerie”, at first all the not-so-stylish-rather-straight-to-the-point-dirty examples are popping up. And that’s the reason why strippers, who usually adopt that style easily, do not bring any effect on me – actually they look terrible usually and “sexy lingerie” is one of the reasons.

On the other point, thanks to hundred years of fashion evolution and cultural victories won, there are brands like Forrest&Bob, Andres Sarda or just the latest discovery – Kriss Soonik loungerie. They are obvious proofs of how sexually appealing and subtle at the same time undergarments can look like.

No wonder Kriss Soonik loungerie is simply blossoming with charm. Designed by Estonian, influenced by Nordic cultural winds and beauty of chilly landscape.  Adding up UK’s inspiring chaos and movement, Kriss Soonik stands out as masters of subtle seductiveness.

Even bridal loungerie is much more playful and with less details from a standard image of bridal lingerie:

Kriss Soonik loungerie stands out as great example of contemporary design, that is adaptable to everyday use. Here are couple photos from a Spring Summer 2012 campaign, shot in Estonia:

And to all designers of cheaply looking lingerie that supposed to seduce but rather pushes away, Kriss Soonik Loungerie shows this:

Casanova lingerie. Imagined by Chantal Thomass

That’s how a lingerie could have looked like in times of Casanova if Chantal Thomass would be living and creating then. The latest Fall / Winter 2012 collection campaign may easily get a label of “Casanova lingerie” if not sounding cheap.

Thanks to Coco Chanel, I can say I do like that glamour has evolved and became much more sophisticated – at least you can look glamorous even in black classic lingerie, you don’t require feathers, powdered wigs and all other fluffy stuff.

This collection is something in the middle between unacceptably cheesy Rococo/Baroque madness and subtle sense of beauty of simple lines. In general, a step back, let’s hope a temporary one for Chantal Thomass, to inspire something better with next collections – only couple pieces look quite charming, others  are simply interesting to watch, but I highly doubt beautiful to wear.

Something about the brand Chantal Thomass: a lingerie designer that is recognized as the queen of really chic, glamorous lingerie. True haute couture of lingerie.

Elle, Rihanna, fashion, lingerie, granny panties, fishnet – sounds as bad as it looks

Just because it’s Rihanna and you have talented art directors, stylists, that all doesn’t mean the end result will be appealing.

Just like previous time time, when Rihanna promoted Armani Underwear (that looks like any ordinary underwear but  priced like some masterpieces), this new Rihanna fashion editorial with Elle disappoints.

It only kinda looks “interesting” just because video production is great, photographer did his job well and it’s tempting to see a celebrity in lingerie.

But do you really really find this whole picture of ordinary black bra, terrible haircut, church, dramatic lightning somehow appealing?

And granny-pants-vintage-high-waisted-style panties with some fishnet clothing – I know there are many fashionistas and designers those are cheering and trying to convince it looks really good, but c’mon, it looks terrible.

I do understand director’s job is to create a convincing story, so here goes some drama:

How the heck magazine such as Elle can allow this? Most likely that’s the part where having Rihanna pays their bills.

This photo saves the day – but only because Rihanna doesn’t dominate here:

And for a nice photo like this, Elle had to make Rihanna look like not Rihanna – if you wouldn’t see face, wouldn’t recognize her.

Video looks sort of ok, but in general – empty.

Please, drop Rihanna from Fashion magazines and do not let me see her in lingerie again.

Gisele Bündchen Brazilian Intimates, 1 year anniversary with new Spring 2012 styles

1 year anniversary for Gisele Bündchen Brazilian Intimates has already come and with a bit more modest tone collection as previous ones. Consisting of 23 pieces, developed in five different colors, collection looks as “fulfilling the everyday needs and suitable for seduction”.

Well yes, as Gisele says:

“When I build my collection pieces imagine sexy but classy. Choose different pieces, you would use in my daily life and also on special occasions, a lingerie can tell a lot about you and your intentions”

I understand this approach is much more financially viable, though if Gisele Bündchen Brazilian Intimates would like to set foot into the market and win hearts, they most likely should go continue as they have started – with something outstanding, something different.

Just look at the past:

It all has started with a grand show in May 2011 in Sao Paulo,  filled with Brazilian heat:

The air was full of naughty thoughts, lingerie sets were provoking Brazilian libidos and setting woman on the spotlight and in control.

The later “Burlesque” line got even deeper into the pulsating eroticism, still subtle, intelligent, full of secrets:

On the second thought, I found one of the new styles to be most sexy of all, and it’s from the newest collection, below. It so reminds me Forrest & Bob black soft cup bras, the symbol of sexy look.

And what is this, just look at the video, it’s pulsating with seductiveness:

Resuming I’d say Gisele Bündchen Brazilian Intimates have balanced the collection, so that it would have pieces those will have largest sales volume and pieces those will be bought not so frequently, but still adored, good to look at. And that strategy should keep the brand right into a climbing direction – nothing radical, no risks, but rather safe growth.

I keep coming back to screen-grabs from the video, they just prove that sexiness is not in the lingerie it self, but how it is presented.
